Mary Ann Woollands was born on 8 Jan 1863, the second of four daughters born to James Woollands and Julia Archer who were married in Launceston in 1859. Mary Ann sang soprano in the Tasmanian Exhibition Choir in 1891-92, along with her sister Monimia, who is also pictured in the Family Album.
Mary Ann married James Henry Jordan, an electrical engineer, on 3 Dec 1892 at Launceston. Their seven children were all born in Launceston : Vera, 1893-1894; Vernon, 1895; Muriel, 1896; Horace, 1897-1960; Cyril, 1902-1939; Sylvia, 1904 and Phyllis, 1906. Mary Ann died aged 69 on 29 Jun 1932 at Glen Iris, Victoria. She was buried at Carr Villa in Launceston in Section C 413 with her husband James, who had died aged 53 on 21 Apr 1919.
