Emma Marianne Meyer (Mattie) Windeatt was born on 4 Oct 1870, the only daughter of William Windeatt (c.1824-1896), the Launceston postmaster, and his wife Emma Watlin (1832-1900). Marianne married Arthur Sholto Douglas, the branch manager of the Commercial Bank at Deloraine, on 20 Apr 1895 at St Paul's Church, Launceston. They had four sons and one daughter, all born in Deloraine: Arthur, 11-16 Feb 1896; William, 4 May 1897; John, 9 Aug 1898; James, 14 May 1901 and Jean, 9 Aug 1902. The family moved to Sandy Bay, Hobart, and by 1919 were living in Brisbane. Marianne died aged 66 on 9 Aug 1936 at 'Tanallon', Lillian Street, Yeerongpilly, Brisbane. Arthur died in 1944.
