Mrs Mary Ann Windeatt, known as Annie, was born in Launceston on 24 Mar 1840, the third of eleven children of John Ferguson (1798-1877) and his wife Ann Kirk (1812-1897). On 5 Dec 1861, when she was 21, Annie Ferguson married George Windeatt in Launceston. George was a clerk at the Launceston Post Office but died only five years later aged 29 on 11 Feb 1866 at his residence in Charles Street. His funeral was held at the Holy Trinity Church. Their daughter Ada was born 11 Sep 1862. Their son Arthur was born on 19 Sep 1864 but died aged nine on 8 Oct 1873. Annie ran a private school in Frederick Street, Launceston, with the assistance of her daughter. She died on14 Dec 1923 aged 83 and was buried at Carr Villa. Her daughter Ada, brother John C Ferguson and related members of the Windeatt, Dean and Weetman families are also pictured in the Album. See The Examiner 17 Jun 2006, p.37.
