Thomas was one of seven sons of William George Wilkinson (1849-1919) and his wife Caroline Morris (1859-1935). He fell out with his family and lost contact with them. He was not mentioned in his mother's death notice in 1935. See The Examiner 14 Apr 2007, page 42.
