Louis Clifford Wilkinson was the youngest son of William George Wilkinson (1849-1919) and his wife Caroline Morris (1850-1935). He was born in Launceston on 25 Aug 1886 and married Florence Mary Ball on 12 Nov 1912. Louis was a draper's clerk. Their son John was born in Jan 1914 in Cypress Street, Newstead. Louis and his family moved to Sydney, where he enlisted in the 18th Battalion on 26 Mar 1915. He embarked for Egypt on 12 May 1915. His health suffered and he was attached to the AIF administrative headquarters in London. He returned to Sydney after the War, and later moved to Melbourne. Louis' older brother Roy Wilkinson lived in Sydney. See The Examiner 14 Apr 2007, page 42.
