Gertrude Sophia Wigan was born on 1 May 1872, the sixth of seven children born to Arthur Wigan and his wife Lydia Douglas who were married at Westbury in 1864. Arthur was a farmer at 'Wesley Dale' but died on 24 Nov 1872, just over six months after Gertrude was born. Her younger sister Ernestine was born in Jul 1873 but died one year later.
Gertrude married Horace Warren, a son of William Warren, electrician and manager of the Telegraph Cable Station at Low Head, and his wife Elizabeth Owen. In 1906 Gertrude and Horace had a son, Horace Maxwell, known as Max. Gertrude died on 30 Jul 1955 aged 84. Her remains were cremated and placed in Rose Garden B No. 32 at the Carr Villa Cemetery with Horace who had died aged 75 on 4 Dec 1946. Horace was a member of the Launceston Golf Club and Kings Meadows Tennis Club and might have worked for Johnstone and Wilmot. They lived at 21a Adelaide Street, Launceston. Max died aged 52 in Jan 1958.
