Theodora Weston was born on Christmas Day 1870, the eldest daughter of Edward Weston (1831-1877) of 'Hythe' Longford, and Kate McCarthy Clerke (1846-1899). She apparently suffered from schizophrenia and was taken to London to seek treatment. She was admitted to Bethlem Hospital in London on 28 July 1894 and discharged on 21 August 1895. She was then transferred to a private 'lunatic house' in South London. A photograph of Theodora appears on the cover of 'Presumed Curable: an Illustrated Casebook of Victorian Psychiatric Patients in Bethlem Hospital' by Colin Gale and Robert Howard, published in 2003.
Little help could be offered at that time and she remained in difficulty for the rest of her life. She died unmarried in Kew, Victoria, on 14 Feb 1939.
