Eustace Moriarty Weston was born at Longford on 24 Aug 1873, a son of Edward Weston MLC (1831-1877) and his wife Kate McCarthy Clerke (1846-1899). He trained as a mining engineer at the Ballarat School of Mines and on 7 Mar 1896 married Katherine Weinritter, step-daughter of his professor, Alfred Mica Smith. Their only daughter Veda was born in Geelong in 1898. They moved to South Africa where they later divorced. Katherine returned to Victoria but Eustace stayed on in South Africa and married Mary Priestly in 1926. He died in Ladysmith on 22 Dec 1927.
