William Charles Walker was born on 29 Sep 1873, the second of six children born to Charles Augustus Walker (1838-1907) and Catherine Turner who were married on 5 Feb 1870. As a 17-year-old, William exhibited a coloured, varnished and framed map of New Zealand in the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. He became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries. On 31 Aug 1901 at Addlestone, Surrey, England, William married Lilian Danvers. Their two sons, Aubrey born in 1904 and Cyril born in 1906, both attended the Launceston Church Grammar School. William's parents and sister Ketha also are pictured in the Family Album.
