Lily Walden was born in Launceston on 30 Oct 1871, one of nine children born to James Walden (1831-1934), a commission agent, leather manufacturer and furrier, and his wife Jane Montgomery McIlroy (died 1915). Lily had three older sisters and five brothers, but two died young. James exhibited pelts and skins at the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. On 30 Mar 1907 Lily married Percy Thomas Adam, the eldest son of John Adam of Richmond, Victoria. The marriage took place at 'Beauty Park', the residence of the bride's parents.
The couple moved to 'Penquite', Hawthorn, Victoria, where their only son, Randolph James (Gus) was born on 5 Nov 1908. He died aged 85 on 17 Jan 1994. Lily Adam passed away in May 1944 aged 72 and Percy died aged 76 in Feb 1952. They are buried together at Carr Villa in Section F1 272.
