William Henry Valentine was born at Campbell Town on 25 Apr 1845, the only son of Dr William Valentine and his wife Mary Anne Matcham of 'The Grange'. William junior married Constance Ransom, of 'Killymoon', Fingal, on 27 Apr 1869 at Christ Church, 'Cullenswood'. He was a farmer at 'Frodsley' and 'Killymoon' for several years, before moving to Deloraine, then St Leonards. From about 1885 William and Constance were living at Invermay, where the last three of their 12 children were born.
William was a life member of the Tasmanian Turf Club, one of the best pigeon shots of his day and a keen angler. He was appointed a justice of the peace in 1876. William died on 5 Jun 1931 at the age of 86. Constance had died on 21 Mar 1894 aged 47. See The Examiner 28 Apr 2007, page 40.
