Mrs Caroline Newson Stokes was born in Launceston on 16 Jul 1855, the third of 14 children born to William Newson Ling (1819-1883) and his wife Ellen Randall. William Ling was the harbour master for 30 years. Caroline married William Stokes in Launceston on 19 May 1880. They had seven children, all born in Launceston. Ernest, Eliza and Louisa all died young. The family moved to Western Australia between 1899 and 1901 where William Stokes died at Northam in 1927. Caroline died in Perth in 1930. William is also pictured in the Family Album.
