Constance Stephenson was born in Geelong, Victoria, in 1868, the fourth of eleven children of Rev. Francis Ewans Stephenson (1829-1885), a Wesleyan minister, and his wife Louisa Ann Hobday (1838-1922) who were married in Victoria in 1862. Constance married John Thomson Murray, later the manager of the Colonial Sugar Company, Fremantle, Western Australia. Constance and John had at least two sons, Alan in 1901, and John Stuart in 1903. Constance died aged 88 in 1957.
Five of Constance's brothers and sisters are in the Launceston Family Album: Camilla, Melville, Hilda, Clement and Campbell. The eldest three, Francis Henry, Ralph Stuart and Amy, and the youngest two, Jessie Frances and Dorothy are not in the Album.
