This is possibly Rosalind Emily Spotswood who was born in Hobart on 8 Feb 1878. She was the elder daughter of Christopher Spotswood and his wife Emily Matilda Dell. Rosalind was seven years old when her mother died from chronic myelitis on 25 Feb 1885 aged 33. Rosalind was orphaned just two years later when her father died from enteric fever on 13 May 1887. Her parents were buried at the Queenborough Cemetery in Sandy Bay. It appears that Rosalind and her younger sister Ethel were cared for by family members in Launceston. In 1903 Rosalind was a governess for the Thirkell family at 'Darlington Park', Campbell Town.
On 4 Apr 1907, in Cape Town, South Africa, Rosalind married Hendrik Jacobus Malan (1879-1943). She died on 14 Mar 1955 in Cape Town. She was the author of at least one book, 'The blue peacock: and other stories'.
