This is possibly Bernard Joseph Somers, purser on the passenger steamship Oonah which sailed between Sydney and Hobart at the time of the Exhibition. He married Elizabeth Mary Davies of Launceston on 10 Jan 1896 at St Andrew's Cathedral in Sydney.

In 1914 Bernard, who was employed as an accountant, and his wife Elizabeth were living in South Yarra, Victoria.
