Edward Francis Aloysius Sims was born at Longford on 27 Oct 1865, a son of John Sims and his wife Esther Keough. Edward was employed as a shop assistant and later as a storeman and also a jockey. He was a bass in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. Before his marriage he lived at Mrs A Shaw's boarding house in Charles Street, Launceston. On 7 Sep 1896 Edward married Annie May Rose Thomson at the Church of Apostles, Launceston. There were no children and Annie died aged 44 on 10 Feb 1917.
Three years later, on 30 Nov 1920, Edward married Agnes Grace Rowley. They had two children: Francis Rowley (known as Rowley) on 14 Dec 1921 and Effie on 12 Jun 1925. For many years Rowley was the chief steward in the Dog Pavilion at the Launceston Show. Edward died on 27 Oct 1940 and was buried at Turners Marsh.
