Olive Ruby and Beulah Alice Simpson, were the daughters of John Simpson and his wife Alice Jane Simmons.
Ruby, as she was known, was born on 20 Feb 1885 at Galvin Town, Launceston. She did not marry and died on 16 May 1934 at Mt South Cameron. She was buried in the Gladstone General Cemetery.
Beulah was born on 25 Mar 1889 at the Gladstone Hotel, Gladstone. She was a pupil of Miss Mary Fox at the Launceston Ladies College. In 1904 she was the only student in Tasmania who gained full marks in a practical music examination taken under the auspices of Trinity College, London. Beulah married Hubert Rutter on 31 Oct 1910 at St Paul's Church, Launceston. Hubert was the youngest son of John F Rutter from South Yarra, Victoria. After their marriage they lived in Armadale, Victoria, where their son David was born in 1915. They had two other children: June, who was born in 1917 and died in 1941, and Samuel, who died in 1926. Beulah died aged 57 in 1946 at Armadale. Hubert died in 1958.
