Edgar Adams Silver was born on 24 Nov 1866 at 2 Upper Avenue Road, Hampstead, London, to Hugh Adams Silver, Australian merchant, and Annie Ellen Daniels. He was christened on 17 May 1867 at St John's Church, Hampstead, the ninth of eleven children. Edgar was educated at a boarding school in Cothill, Berkshire.
Edgar married 17-year-old Gertrude Mary Scott on 4 Aug 1897 in Launceston. In 1903 Edgar, a clerk, was living at 14 Berry Street, East Melbourne. He enlisted in the 3rd Battalion, 1st Reinforcement, Australian Commonwealth Military Forces in 1914. His address at the time was Narrandera, NSW. He returned to Australia in 1917 with the rank of private. By 1930 he was working as a nurse in Sydney, NSW. Edgar died from pneumonia in Sydney on 7 Feb 1936.
