David Alexander Scott was born on 26 Apr 1875, the fifth of seven children of David Scott (1837-1893) carpenter, JP, MHA and alderman of the Launceston City Council and Margaret McLachlan (1841-1918) who were married in 1866. David was working at the National Bank of Tasmania at the time of his father's death in 1893. His occupation was later (1903) listed as 'agent'.

David married Mabel Susan Fulton on 10 Oct 1901 at Launceston. Their three children were all born at 110 Tamar Street: Margaret Fulton on 27 Sep 1902; Nance Mabel on 15 Sep 1904; and David Garnet on 5 May 1916. David Alexander Scott died on 2 May 1928 aged 53 at his residence at 110 Tamar Street. He was buried at the Carr Villa Cemetery in the Monumental Section F1 No. 448. Mabel died aged 53 on 11 Apr 1931.
