Blanche Scott was born in Launceston on 15 Jun 1866, the sixth of eight children of John Scott (1828-1890), brewer, and Elizabeth Griffiths (1830-1918) who were married on 1 Aug 1854. Blanche married John Alfred Hamilton Sale at the Holy Trinity Church, Launceston, on 17 Jan 1894. John, employed at the Union Bank of Sydney, was the second son of JT Sale of 'Verulam', St Leonards. John was transferred to Deniliquin and later to Young, NSW.

Blanche and John had five children between 1894 and 1908. John died at Young on 2 Mar 1920. Blanche, a widow for 31 years, died aged 85 on 21 Aug 1951 at 352 Davey Street, Hobart. Blanche's sister Edith, brother Walter and future sister-in-law Emily Sale are also pictured in the Launceston Family Album.
