This is possibly Ada Jane Scott who was born on 28 Aug 1867, the eldest of seven children of David Scott (1837-1893) and Margaret McLachlan who were married on 18 Oct 1866 in Launceston. David was born in Broughty Ferry, Scotland, and arrived in Victoria in 1855. After about two years he came to Tasmania and farmed in the Pipers River district. He moved to Launceston where he worked as a builder and raised his family. He was active in community affairs, including being an alderman (1883-93) and mayor (1889) for the Launceston City Council and a member of the House of Assembly (1886-1893).
Ada attended the Tasmanian Exhibition in Launceston with four of her brothers and sisters whose portraits are also in the Family Album. These are Mary, Albert, Alice and David. Ada died in Carlton, Victoria, on 4 Jul 1904 aged 37.
