Lanoma (Nonee) Sadler was born on 10 Dec 1876, the third child of Robert James Sadler JP (1846-1923), mining, insurance and commission agent, and and his wife Adeline Marion Tulloch (1858-1926) who were married in Launceston in 1873. Adeline was a daughter of Captain Samuel Tulloch, who owned a ship called the Lanoma.
On 25 Feb 1909, at St John's Church, Launceston, Lanoma Sadler married Gerald Roberts (1877-1961). He was the son of Henry Llewelyn Roberts (1831-1919) and Mary Grant Lindsay (1841-1921) who established the Beaumaris Zoo in Sandy Bay. Lanoma and Gerald's five children were born between 1910 and 1918 at 59 St Georges Terrace, Battery Point. Gerald entered his father's business, Roberts & Co. Ltd, becoming director in 1908 and chairman of directors in 1932 until his death in Jun 1961. Lanoma was cremated on 18 Feb 1969, aged 92.
Roberts & Co. Ltd, established in 1865, advertised in the catalogue of the Tasmanian Exhibition of 1891-92. The head office of the auctioneers, valuators, estate and general commission agents was located in Murray Street, Hobart. Extensive new stores adjoined the railway terminus for the reception of wool, skins, grain and all produce which were sold at auction.
