Mrs Oceana Rocher was born at sea on 25 Apr 1822 to William and Susannah Peet. Her birth was registered on arrival in Hobart. At 17 years of age, on 28 May 1839, Oceana Peet married 28-year-old Charles Alexander William Rocher. He was admitted to the Bar on 4 Jan 1841 and then moved to Launceston where he practised as a lawyer for 25 years. He built a residence 'Rockliffe' or 'Rocklands' in an area which became known as Rocherlea.
Oceana and Charles had two sons. Charles William was born on 26 Jan 1842 and was the Launceston town clerk for many years. Percy Claude was born on 5 Jan 1852 and is also pictured in the Family Album. CAW Rocher died on 4 Jan 1877 and Oceana died on 25 Jan 1901 in Launceston.
