Sydney Ritchie was born on 27 Feb 1868, the tenth of twelve children born to George Ritchie (1827-1895) and Charlotte Danvers who were married on 28 Nov 1853 in the farm house of 'Scone', Perth. Sydney was in partnership with his cousin Horace Ritchie as a tobacconist and hairdresser at 97 Brisbane Street, Launceston. He died aged 25 from phthisis (tuberculosis) at the Launceston General Hospital on 5 Mar 1893. He was buried in the Charles Street Cemetery. His sister Evelyn and 11 cousins are pictured in the Family Album.
