Caroline Ricketts was born on 11 Jul 1823 in Hobart to convict parents Moses Phillips and Mary Ann Phillips, nee Griffin. She first married convict Joseph Barnett (1799-1855) in Launceston in 1841. Her second husband was convict Abraham Martin (1812-1875) who she married in Castlemaine, Victoria in 1870. Her third husband was William Ricketts (1822-1894), a beer maker from Essex and a free immigrant. They were also married in Castlemaine, Victoria. William was a farmer and wine merchant at Little Oyster Cove. Caroline exhibited homemade wine in the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. William died on 27 Jul 1894 and Caroline passed away on 5 Sep 1908 at the residence of her nephew, H Phillip, Invermay, Launceston. She was 85 years old.
