Charles Leigh Clare Nicholson was the son of Donald Nicholson (1834-1924) and Euphemia Scott Gibb (1840-1915). He was born in Chorlton-upon-Medlock, England, in June 1872. The family came to Tasmania in 1883. Charles married Louise Augusta Fooks (born 18 Oct 1881 in Evandale) on 8 Dec 1907 in St Martin's Church, Queenstown.
The couple had three children: Hubert Evelyn Leigh, born 16 Dec 1909; Jeanne Marie Louise, 18 Jul 1911; and Brandon Murray Scott, 16 Nov 1912. Charles worked as a prospector for some time in Queenstown. He petitioned for bankruptcy in 1915.
Charles Nicholson died in Victoria in 1930. Other members of his family appear in the Album.
