Mrs Sarah McKay was born in Launceston on 15 Oct 1854, a daughter of Robert Harris and Clara Weymouth who were married on 4 Nov 1842. When she was 20, Sarah Harris married 18-year-old Arthur William Wright on 23 Dec 1874. Their son Arthur Robert was born on 30 Apr 1875. Her husband died just a few weeks later on 6 Jun 1875. Sarah married Robert McKay on 13 Jun 1883, when her son was eight years old. Robert was a partner in the firm McKay, Sampson & McKinlay, general drapers, clothiers, milliners and house furnishers, situated at 'Waterloo House', Brisbane Street, Launceston.
Sarah died aged 80 on 30 Mar 1935. Robert died aged 88 on 15 Sep 1944. They were buried together at Carr Villa in the family plot at F 25.
Sarah's son Arthur Wright, her sister Clara Weymouth, brother-in-law James McKay, future daughter-in-law Gertrude Russen and other family members are also pictured in the Launceston Family Album.
