Algernon Albertus HF Howard was born in Launceston on 20 Nov 1868, the third of four children of Edmund James Howard (1839-1891) and his wife Margaret Harland Wilson. Algernon married Florence Jane Green in Launceston on 25 Jan 1893. They had two sons and two daughters. Both of their sons died young. Algernon Percival, who was born on 2 Feb 1894, died aged 21 on 11 Jun 1915 at his parents' residence, 91 Cameron Street, Launceston. Allan Albertus, born on 17 Dec 1894, drowned on 20 Jun 1907 when he fell into the Tamar River near the Alexandra Wharf. He was 12 years old. Frances Vera May was born on 4 Apr 1897 and married Augustus William (Gus) Beaumont on 28 Jul 1923. Marjory Irene (Madge) was born on 21 Sep 1903.
Algernon was a sharebroker and accountant. He served as a secretary and was a life member of St John's Masonic Lodge. He died at his residence 11 Wellington Street, Launceston, on 18 Sep 1935. Florence died on 1 Jun 1947 and was buried with her husband in the Anglican section of Carr Villa Cemetery B11 No. 41.
