Frank Edwin Hobbs was born in June 1863 in Devizes, Wiltshire, England. His father was Joseph Hobbs. Frank married Annie Aspray on 20 July 1887, and they had four children: Madeline, born 1888; Reginald,1891; Dorothy, 1894 and Norman, 1899. Frank worked as a journalist for The Examiner newspaper. He died on 27 Apr 1936 at his son Reginald's residence in Bothwell, and was buried at Cornelian Bay.
