Ellen (Nellie) Heald, eldest daughter of Henry Heald junior and his wife Andrewina Morison, was born in Launceston. Ellen attended Sacred Heart School in Launceston. She was a keen scholar, winning prizes for her excellent work in all subjects. She followed the family tradition as a tailoress in the family business until the death of her mother, after which she cared for her younger siblings. She married Alexander Imlach, contractor, on 28 Jan 1901. They had six children: Isidore (Allison), Joseph, Mary, Eugene, Kenneth and Dorothy. She later helped her husband on their small farm at Dowling Street, Launceston. Ellen died on 27 Nov 1945 and is buried at Carr Villa Cemetery, Launceston. See The Examiner 24 Jun 2006 p. 41.
