Ralph William Hart was born in Deloraine on 22 Mar 1863, one of nine children of John Hart (1826-1896) and Mary Ann Poole (1830-1876) who were married on 11 Jul 1859. Ralph was a tenor in the Exhibition Choir, as was his brother Edward Hart, who also appears in the Album. At the time of the Exhibition he was chief clerk at Edwin Rand Faulkner, merchant, Launceston.
Ralph married Violet May Joscelyne on 17 Apr 1900 at St Paul's Church, Deloraine. They had three sons: Ralph Frank, born 15 Mar 1901; Rupert William Joscelyne, 30 Jan 1905 and Gerald Lewis Hamilton, 4 Sep 1907. Rupert Hart donated the passport Album of portraits taken for the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92 to the Launceston Library in 1950. They had been in the possesion of his uncle Albert Walter Joscelyne who is also pictured in the Album.
Ralph Hart died aged 60 at 5 South Road, Trevallyn, on 5 Mar 1924 and is buried at Carr Villa Section B9 No. 146. Violet died aged 88 on 20 Jul 1959.
