Emilie Louise Harrap was born on 22 Sep 1854, the eldest of seven children of Alfred Harrap and his wife Amelia Tobin. Amelia was a daughter of Edward Tobin, RN. Alfred and Amelia were married at 'Mount Portland' on the West Tamar in Nov 1853. In that year Alfred took charge of a produce store at Westbury, where Emilie and the her younger brother George Edward were born. The family had moved to Launceston by 1858. Emilie's three sisters, Ada, Grace and Mary, are pictured in this Album of the Tasmanian Exhibition of 1891-92. Their father died on 26 Jan 1893 and their mother died on 12 Nov 1899. Emilie did not marry and died in Sussex, England, on 23 Jan 1941.
