Kate Gunn was born on 16 Aug 1877, the only daughter of John Gunn (1840-1897) and his wife Sarah Morris (1842-1925). She had five brothers, but they all died young except Frederick John: Morris, 1873-?; Charles, 1875-76; Frederick, 1879-1946; Sydney, 1881-82; and George, 1883-83. John Gunn was in partnership with his brother Thomas in the building firm of J & T Gunn.
In Sep 1910 Kate was a bridesmaid at her friend Cecil Sutton's wedding, while the groom Percy Mattingley's best man was his cousin Otto Neuendorf from Melbourne. Kate married Otto Albert Ludwig Neuendorf in London in Apr 1913 during a tour of Europe. On 29 Nov 1913 Kate died aged 36 after two days of illness from acute gastritis at Dunblane, Scotland. She was interred at Dunblane Cathedral. Her sudden death was a shock for her mother and brother. They disputed Otto's claim to her considerable wealth, but the courts granted him the greater part of it.
Kate's aunts Mary Gunn and Caroline Wilkinson are also in the Family Album.
