Frank Lindsay Gunn was born in Launceston on 18 Sep 1875, the eldest surviving child of Thomas Gunn (1844-1910) and his wife Mary Morris (1846-1926). Thomas was in partnership with his brother John in the building firm J & T Gunn. Frank's mother and siblings Hilda, Charles, Eila and Winifred, all appear in this collection of portraits. Frank was educated at the Collegiate Institute, Launceston. He was on a trip to England and Europe when his father died in Aug 1910.
Frank married Adele Margaret Dunphy, of Toorak, on 31 Jan 1913 in Melbourne. Their first child Alexander was born at 'Neerina', Armadale, Victoria, on 24 Sep 1913. Frank was chairman of directors of Crisp & Gunn Cooperative Ltd, timber merchants, Hobart. He was chairman of the Repatriation Board for Tasmania from Apr 1918. Frank died on 5 Dec 1928 aged 53 at the Public Hospital in Hobart. He was buried at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery.
