Lewis Thomas Griffiths was born on 2 Jun 1878, one of 13 children of Thomas Griffiths (1844 - 20 Apr 1891) and his wife Mary Sullivan (1847 - 22 Jan 1920) who were married on 29 Jun 1870.
Thomas Griffiths was manager of the Tamar Brewery at the time of his death. His wife Mary and son Ernest took over the management after this time. There was no entry from the brewery in the Tasmanian Exhibition of 1891.
Lewis, a clerk, lived with his mother Mary and brother Leonard in George Street, Launceston. After his mother died in 1920 he moved to Sandy Bay to reside with his brother Leonard and wife Ila who had married in 1916. He worked as a bottler at that time. After Leonard's death in Oct 1932 Lewis returned to Launceston to live with his older brother Ernest. He died on 9 Jan 1961 at the age of 83 after being killed while crossing Invermay Road. He is buried at Carr Villa.
