Richard Vyvyan (Vyvy) Weedon Green was born on 27 Feb 1877, the eldest of five children born to Arthur Green (1842-1924) and his wife Florence Weedon (1851-1938). Richard was educated at the Launceston High School and became an engineer. For many years he owned the Salisbury Foundry in Launceston and was involved in the manufacture of the second span of King's Bridge.
Richard married Sybil Florence Finch on 1 May 1912 at St John's Church, Toorak, Victoria. Sybil was involved with the Volunteer Aid Detachment during the war. They had three sons: George Reginald Finch on 1 Jul 1914; Noel Vyvyan Finch on 23 Dec 1918; and Jeffrey. The family lived at 'Omagh', 14 Lyttleton Street, Launceston. As a widower Vyvyan moved to the Glen View Rest Home in Glenorchy. He died aged 81 on 28 Apr 1958 and his ashes were buried in the rose garden at the Carr Villa Cemetery with his wife Sybil who had died on 31 Jul 1955 aged 74. See The Examiner 29 Apr 2006, p.30.
