Alfred Lawrence (Laurie) Green trained as a lawyer like his father Alfred, and became a partner in the law firm Ritchie & Parker, Alfred Green & Co. His mother was Rose Barnard. Born on 7 Oct 1875, Laurie was an only child. He received a sound education at the Launceston Church Grammar School. He was an active member of the Northern Tasmanian Camera Club.
On 25 Apr 1905 Laurie married Selina Maude Martin at Christ Church, South Yarra. Selina was the daughter of John Martin and Emily Susannah, the second daughter of John Ward Gleadow. Laurie and Selina had three children who were born at their residence, 16 Welman Street, Launceston: Phyllis Maude, 1906-1908; Richard Martin, 1910-1986; and Alfred John, 1912-2000. The family later moved to 22 York Street. Selina died on 2 Sep 1931 and Laurie on 12 Jul 1935. They were buried at Carr Villa next to each other in Section B1 10 and 11.
