Eric Arthur Weedon Green was born in Launceston on 1 Dec 1878, the second son of Arthur Green (1842-1924) and his wife Florence Weedon (1851-1938). Eric was educated at the Launceston High School and later was employed as a bank officer. He married Florence Clare on 14 Apr 1906 at the Rectory, St Leonards. Florence was a daughter of William Clare of Newnham.
The couple moved to Berrigan, New South Wales, where their first child Jack was born on 23 Jul 1906. Their second son Kenneth was born at Burnie on 3 Dec 1907. He attended Hutchins School in Hobart, was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 1950 and the honour of Knight of the British Empire (KBE) was conferred on him in 1957. Their youngest son Denis was born in Hobart in Jun 1914 and became a law clerk. During World War II he was a private in the Australian Infantry 2/40th Battalion AIF. Denis died aged 31 on 22 Jun 1945 and was buried in the Jakarta War Cemetery, Indonesia.
After his retirement from the bank Eric spent time with his son Jack at the latter's farm at 'Loatta', Rosevale. Eric died aged 83 on 7 Aug 1962 and was buried in the family plot at the Carr Villa Cemetery in Section B1 No. 19. Florence died aged 78 on 30 Sep 1963. See The Examiner 29 Apr 2006, p.30.
