ES Goddard commenced her nursing training at the Launceston General Hospital on 1 Nov 1889. Miss Goddard worked on the Female Ward for a time. She was appointed as night sister in 1890 and was one of those who took part in the farewell concert for Dr Pardey when he resigned in 1891. Nurse Goddard relinquished the position of night sister in 1892 and later took charge of the temporary nurses' home. She was one of those involved in the formation of the Australian Nurses' Association when a meeting was held in 1892 and was a member of the General Council and Executive Committee. She resigned as a sister on 1 Mar 1894 and left Launceston on the Pateena for Melbourne on 8 March 1894.
