Florence Rosa Elizabeth (Flossie) Glover was born on 23 Jan 1874, the youngest of eight children of William Henry Glover, Commissioner of Mines and Goldfields, and Helen Amelia Byron who were married in 1860. Florence would have been 17 at the time the portrait was taken. On 10 Apr 1895 Florence married Walter Whitehouse Hill, barrister and solicitor, son of Mathew and Emma Hill. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's parents 'Stewarton', Wellington Road, Launceston, by Archdeacon Hales of the Holy Trinity Church, Launceston. They left by the Coogee for a bridal trip to Sydney shortly after the wedding. Their two daughters were born in Launceston: Vivienne Rosalynd on 20 Sep 1896 and Beryl on 17 Nov 1897. Florence died aged 33 in 1908 at St Kilda, Victoria. Walter later moved to Sydney where he died in 1936.
William Henry Glover died at 'Rhyll', Harford, on 1 Jan 1910 in his 96th year, leaving a widow, three sons and two daughters.
