Ethel Maude Genders was born on 8 Feb 1875 in Adelaide, South Australia, to Joseph Charles Genders (1827-1914) and his first wife Albina Louise Perry who died on 26 Jul 1888. She was the eleventh of 13 children. Ethel married Leslie George Winspear Farmer. He was a civil servant in Guildford, Western Australia before his marriage. In 1931 the couple was living in Melbourne, but had moved to 'Thalassa', Penguin, Tasmania by 1936. Ethel died at the Spencer Hospital, Wynyard, on 22 Sep 1952. Her ashes were interred in the Rose Garden at the Carr Villa Cemetery, Launceston. Her father, stepmother Margaret, and sisters Trixie and Ada are also pictured in the Album.
