Edward Cecil Gaunt was born on 30 Jul 1864, the eldest of 14 children born to Edward Gaunt (1837-1904) and his wife Emily Ransom (1845-1921). He was a miner at Seymour at the time of the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. He apparently moved to the mining region of Zeehan where he married Ethel Adair Grant on 4 Apr 1895 at St Luke's Anglican Church when he was 31 years of age. His parents and seven brothers and sisters are also pictured in the Family Album.
