Clement William Dodery was born in Launceston on 24 Apr 1874, the eldest son of William Henry Dodery (1847-1908), an auctioneer and principal of WT Bell & Co., and his wife Ann Dunning (1847-1936) who married on 12 Jun 1873. His grandfather, the Hon. William Dodery, of 'Lauraville', Longford, was a prominent member of the Tasmanian Legislature. Clement's sister Mary is also pictured in this Album. He had two younger brothers Henry and Gordon.
Clement was educated at Thomas Hogg's School in Launceston. After he left school he joined William Hart & Sons, and later Lindsay Tulloch & Co., where he eventually became managing director. He was then employed by CH Smith & Co.; he remained with that firm until his retirement. Clement was an active member of the Commercial Travellers' Association. He was a keen gardener. Clement died aged 81 at a private hospital on 7 Oct 1955. His remains were interred in the Western Wall No. 401B at the Carr Villa Cemetery.
