Ada Flora Collins, known as Flora, was born on 6 Sep 1865, the second of eleven children of George Thomas Collins (1839-1926) and his wife Ursula Flora McEachern (1843-1929). Flora was educated at the Methodist Ladies College, Elphin Road, Launceston, winning prizes in 1889 and 1890. She did not marry but was prominent in patriotic and philanthropic circles. She was connected with the Victoria League almost from its inception, the Ministering Children's League and the Australian Comforts Fund. Flora had been a member of the East Launceston branch of the ACF since its formation. It is believed that she knitted nearly 100 pullovers for the ACF and gave generous support with donations. She died on 7 May 1945 aged 80. She had a private funeral and was buried at Carr Villa in the family plot Section B2 No. 102.
