Isabel Mary Hopkins Button was born in Launceston on 17 Jun 1870, the younger daughter of Charles Stammers Button (1828-1907) and his wife Mary Rout (1831-1915). She was a student at the Methodist Ladies College, Elphin Road, Launceston. She later moved to Melbourne. Her mother and two brothers, Edmund and Percy, are also pictured in the Family Album.
