Harry Herbert Burbury was born in Hobart on 2 Apr 1869, the third of five children born to Alfred Burbury (1842-1899) and Maria Abbott (1841-1871) who were married in 1865. He played the flute with his older brother Francis in the Tasmanian Exhibition Orchestra in 1891-92 and in the inaugural concert of the Orpheus Orchestral Society in July 1892. Harry was a storekeeper in Scottsdale. He married Euphemia Jane (Effie) Craw on 13 Apr 1892. Their first child, Eric, was born in Scottsdale in 1894 and the other six were born in Launceston between 1897 and 1911. Harry was employed as a draper in Launceston. The family moved to Rose Bay in New South Wales where Harry was still employed as a draper in 1930. By 1936, he, his wife and son Reginald were all confectioners and living in Parramatta Road. Harry died on 11 Sep 1954 at 74 Baringa Road, Northbridge, NSW. He was privately cremated. Several family members are pictured in the Family Album, including his future wife, Effie Craw.
