Sarah Louisa Bruce was born about 1874, a daughter of Thomas Bruce (c.1831-1890), a miner, and Louisa Lewin (c.1848-1935). Sarah attended the Methodist Ladies College in Elphin Road, Launceston, where she won prizes at the speech days of 1891, 1892 and 1894.
Sarah Bruce married Philip George Farmilo on 11 Jan 1919 at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Launceston. Philip was a contractor and later an investor, in Hobart. The couple did not have any children. Sarah and Philip lived at 30 Fitzroy Place, Sandy Bay. Philip died aged 73 and was buried on 2 Aug 1931. Sarah died at her residence 10 Garth Avenue, Sandy Bay, aged 84, on 11 Apr 1958 and was cremated at Cornelian Bay. Her mother and two brothers also appear in the Album.
