James George Blundell, born on 12 Jul 1838, sailed from London on 29 Oct 1882 and settled in Launceston, Tasmania, where he started a bootmaking business at 154 Charles Street. James was a bass in the Exhibition Choir in 1891-92. He died aged 59 on 16 Feb 1897. His funeral left his residence at 142 Charles Street and proceeded to the Cypress Street Cemetery, Newstead, where he was buried on 17 Feb. His wife Eliza died on 8 Aug 1932 at the grand old age of 94. Their youngest son Frederick carried on the bootmaking business, while daughter Florence worked as a boot machinist. Their son Albert married Ann Jane McKinnon in 1888 and had an importing business on the corner of George and Brisbane Streets in 1903.
