Sarah Barnard was born on 11 Oct 1832, one of at least eight daughters of George William Barnard (1791-1864) and his wife Anne Greenside of 'Landfall', East Tamar. They also had two sons, George and Thomas. The property, consisting of 1000 acres, was granted to G W Barnard in Nov 1818 after his arrival from Sydney.
Sarah did not marry and later lived with her parents in a house from the James Bennell estate in Victoria Parade, Adelaide Street, Launceston. Her father died on 2 Sep 1864, aged 72, and her mother died on 19 Nov 1879. Sarah passed away on 26 Nov 1909, in her 78th year.
