Albert Gosman Harrison Allen, an architect, won a second award for architectural designs and sketches at the Tasmanian Exhibition in 1891-92. He was born on 4 Apr 1863 to Edward Allen, a clothier, and Elizabeth Bostock Wilson of Liverpool Street, Hobart, who were married on 18 Aug 1858. Albert was the middle child of three, with an older brother Edward and younger sister Maria. Albert was baptised at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Hobart, on 13 May 1863. He married Margaret Ann Hutcheson at Petersham, NSW, in 1896. His three children were born in NSW: Dorothy in 1897; Marjorie in 1902 and Norman in 1907. Albert was still working as an architect in 1903 but by 1930 he was a traveller and by 1936 he was a shopkeeper at 9 Tulip Street, Sydney. Albert died in 1940 at Chatswood, NSW.
